Meet others who enjoy reading plays aloud. Amateurs and first-timers are absolutely welcome. We've enjoyed a wide range of plays... from Moliere to Albee, Neil Simon to Shakespeare, Chekhov to "The Laramie Project". Meetups happen once a month on a Monday evening at 7 PM, in a public space, emphasis on the word "pub". We typically end around 9:30 or so.
A Sunday afternoon, a glass of wine, a few snacks, a fantastic piece of playwriting, and a group of avid play readers who like to have fun! What could be better? East Bay PlayReaders is a group for amateurs who are theater lovers and would like the social experience of group reading. The group is open to anyone, and actors can join, but the purpose is to bring in non-professionals who want to be a part of a playreading, without theater experience. The venue we have chosen is in Alameda, CA. , b …
… Some possible ideas include (but are not be limited to) discussions based on literature or other topics of interest, games nights, exploring new neighborhoods, reading plays and hiking, but all ideas are welcome. I plan to host some of these events at a private home in Berkeley. (NOTE: the term "small group" sometimes refers to groups within the Christian Church to further their mission. This is to clarify that this group has no association with any particular religious or spiritual group, insti …

Taking two play-writing classes at the Berkeley Rep has given me an appreciation for the group dynamic that seems to go so well with writing plays. Hearing others read my words and being exposed to the ideas others have had has been a rewarding and enriching experience. This group will be a forum for folks to hone their craft, share ideas, and have their works read by sympathetic writers. If you have a finished piece, a work in progress, a concept for a play or are looking for an idea, join us a …

… We believe that each one of us has a unique role to play in this dimension -- a specific divine mission. Souls that chose to incarnate for a specific divinely guided purpose are known as lightworkers. The realm within which we exist can be challenging and often painful for these souls. Through the ancient art of energy healing we will identify our spiritual treasures and together we will HEAL & learn how to share these gifts with our fellow beings. The bonds that we develop over the next few wee …
For a long time, I thought it would be fun to get together with others to act out famous movie scenes or iconic tv shows. Maybe I'm alone here, but I think it'd be a blast. I noticed that there aren't many venues for people to do acting for fun, just paid classes or theatrical productions. It just seems very exclusionary. Last summer, I took a couple of acting classes, but beyond that, I don't have any formal training or experience (except in third grade when I played the judge in a play that wa …

This is a great meetup for young professionals who enjoy reading and building a sense of community! I recently moved back to the Bay Area and am very excited to meet fellow book lovers. Below is a little about me and the gist of the book club... I grew up in the Bay Area and went to school at Cal. After sitting through too many hour long lectures on Marx and Durkheim I finally graduated and have since enjoyed basking on the beaches of New Zealand, hiking around Colorado, and living at a zen cent …

We are the type of people that keeps a beach chair and blanket handy in our trunks. We have swimsuits under our business suits. We'll buy sunscreen before we buy groceries. Our friends know where to find us; at the beach. In fact, our friends hate the beach and refuse to join us which is why we love this group.
